The small downstairs window is cemented up ready for the window fitting, still not done that yet though.

I've been painting my ceiling, seemed easier to do it before I put it up, gave it about 5 coats and sanded in between each one to get a smooth finish so it looks like plaster, that's what's taken so long. I'm pleased with the results though, I need to tape and fill the joints and touch up a few scuffs but it's looking good.

An added bonus of putting the ceiling up is that I now have an upstairs floor!

I was kindly given an unwanted stone fire place that I'm modifying to make a hearth in the living room for my poêle à bois, that's wood burning stove to you Brits. The wood burner will sit on top of this obviously when it's done not in the middle of it like it is now.

Found this old thing too, A lovely old copper bath that I'm thinking of cleaning up and making a feature of in the bathroom.

  1. Floor looks good. Really like the bath idea as well (unless you were joking!) really cheap industrial looking taps mounted on the copper tube normally used for plumbing would look good just coming straight out the floor or wall, ???

  2. Wasn't joking at all about the bath, I think it would look great. You're the first to agree with me though, everyone seems so conventional! Exactly my idea coming out the wall or up through the floor, perfect, you share my vision.
